This is an intentionally draft redesign based on real-user testing. The product has been narrowed from a classroom/assessment platform to a focused solo reading experience.

Current product:

  • one uninterrupted literary reading instead of three school passes
  • narration + subtitles + clickable vocabulary as the core reader
  • tapped words feed the vocabulary trainer
  • Wren and Grandpa Ambrose frame books before and after, never in the middle
  • a separate optional Explore experience for literary/context discussion
  • bookshelf and data-only Git book plugins fetched on demand
  • The Gift of the Magi bundled as the reference title
  • The Raven available from its Git pack for text/narration/subtitles; recovered art still needs publishing
  • explicit per-line storyboard packets for start/end keyframes, visual clips, camera, action, mood and duration
  • exact Grok production sheets started for Gift scenes 1 and 2 using real narration cue timings

Removed rather than hidden:

  • Class/teacher UI, sign-in and roster flows
  • three-pass quiz/writing reading modes
  • hand-in/submission/outbox persistence
  • gradebook, CSV/XLSX export and workbook code
  • assessment attempts and grader
  • class QR/join infrastructure
  • Apps Script classroom backend
  • prototype-parity tests that required those removed features

Verification has been rebuilt around the solo product. The current unit suite protects the uninterrupted story track, media/cue alignment, vocabulary, translations, pack switching and Git catalog boundary. Production build and the trimmed test suite are passing; CI is being returned from temporary diagnostic mode to its normal fail-fast workflow.

Still intentionally draft because the remaining work is product polish and migration rather than restoration of classroom features: finish the Gift storyboard backlog, publish/wire Raven art, clean obsolete e2e/docs/tooling, and continue UX/performance passes.
