The code for downloading the file only includes a short section of the pop-up alert, and the file has not been downloaded.

As you mentioned, this code is only for seller/buyer trade chain, and file download operations not implemented. I was thinking to use an IPFS protocol as file store, but later I didn't need it.

What is function (e) used for

function (e) is used for calculating Merkle root for given file. As I mentioned in the readme, the seller must select his data for approving the purchase request. Because he may change his file content after creating record for the data.

May I ask if the uploaded data is stored on the blockchain, or is only proof stored on the blockchain? Can buyers theoretically download data after a successful purchase

Only proof is stored on the blockchain. And in my further plans (even if it doesn't happen), it's better to store the data's path on the blockchain, not the data itself.

And yes, buyers can download data after a successful purchase. That's why I plan to store the data path on the blockchain.
