Device does not support AR Compass is Missing in device device has a compass sensor

I've tried the demo PanicAr in some android devices. in some android devices like

sony xperia m2 (http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_m2-6146.php) &
Asus ZenFone 5 (http://www.gsmarena.com/asus_zenfone_5-5952.php)

which has a compass sensor when running the demo application PanicAr message "AR not supported device does not support the AR Compass is missing". but in device Xiaomi redmi 1s, PanicAR demo successfully run.

is this a bug? does require a special compass sensor to run PanicAR?
