Being a newbie am unaware of tips and tricks to shorten or enhance the functioning of codes.
Requested to contribute if you get some way out.

You can add good comments to your code to make it more readable and accessible to others.
For shortening of code,that comes with time as in Javascript when you learn advanced concepts and start using them then you by yourself start shortening your code
