Scope

Audit F6: disable redirects for the whitelisted research source fetcher and sanitize fetch failures. Existing cutoff/publication-time checks are unchanged. No new dependency or workflow.

Verification

  • Tests-first: 20 redirect cases failed on base; 19 existing tests passed.
  • Offline full suite: 95 passed; targeted Ruff, dependency compatibility and diff checks passed.
  • Synthetic HTTP handlers exercise the real urllib redirect chain without network access.

Compatibility and limits

Redirecting sources now produce no research evidence; operators must configure an approved direct URL if needed. No production config, deployment, provider acquisition or paid model calls were made. Main push runs CI only; scheduled research workflows were not triggered.
