Behind Cygnus lies a reinterpretation of the horror game Slender (released in 2012), which was adapted a few years later as a playable minigame on the Minecraft server Dans-Arcade (the server no longer exists).
This remake is largely inspired by the Dans-Arcade version, though it takes a different direction in several areas. Because Minecraft has evolved significantly over the years, Cygnus heavily utilizes modern Minecraft features to bring its gameplay mechanics and terrifying atmosphere to life.
It is an asymmetrical multiplayer game where a team of Survivors faces off against the darkness (and Slenderman).
- Page Collection: Survivors must explore the map and interact with pages scattered around before the time runs out
- Stamina System: Managing your stamina is critical. Sprinting drains your energy, forcing you to think carefully about when to run and when to hide
- Jumpscares & Ambience: Atmospheric sounds and a dedicated jumpscare system ensure a terrifying and immersive experience
- Resource Pack: Custom resource packs for visual adjustments visuals and ambient audio
- Spectator Mode: Once defeated, players join the spectator team to watch the remaining survivors struggle in the dark
