When running launcher.exe or eldenring.bat, the cmd screen is output for 0.1 seconds and does not run without any response.

I've been going around different communities for two days and looking for solutions, but I couldn't solve them in the end.

The information I've been able to get is that there are often people who are experiencing the same issues as me, and when they start experiencing them, they've never solved them either.

I heard this weekend that they're launching a new version of ModEngine2. I don't know if a new version will fix this.

The reason for creating a new version is because of the DLC launch. But right now, this issue doesn't seem to have anything to do with DLC.

If you run the Eldenring.bat file on the desktop instead of on the Eldenring's game folder, the cmd screen is output for 0.1 seconds and there is no response.

in a different way
If you put all the ME2 files in the ELdenring's game folder and run the Launcher.exe file instead of the Eldenring.bat file, the Eldenring screen appears for 2-3 seconds (the white screen appears and the default mouse curser in the default window is changed to the Eldenring mouse curser) and it just turns off.

I opened the bat file as txt and modified the path.

Before the modification, it was a problem that no reaction occurred after the 0.1 second cmd screen came out.

After the modification, the white screen comes out for 2-3 seconds (the default mouse curser in window was changed to an eldenring mouse curser) and it just goes off.

It still doesn't work anyway.

After several attempts, I have sorted out two causes and solutions for this problem:

1. ModEngine failed to find the game's root directory
   • This is likely to occur if your game directory is not on the C drive or not in the default directory of Steam.
   • You need to edit the launchmod_eldenring.bat file and add -p "Your game path" after the line.\modengine2_launcher.exe -t er -c.\config_eldenring.toml, for example, .\modengine2_launcher.exe -t er -c.\config_eldenring.toml -p "D:\Games\ELDEN RING\Game\eldenring.exe".
2. ModEngine was not run as an administrator
   • On the Windows system, if you notice that your "modengine2_launcher.exe" does not have the small shield icon symbolizing the administrator identity, then this is most likely the case.
   • You need to right-click on the properties of modengine2_launcher.exe (note that it is not for launchmod_eldenring.bat), check the Run this program as an administrator option in the Compatibility tab, and confirm.

Finally, I hope everyone can successfully solve this problem and enjoy the game happily.

i have just solved the problem for myself, i had my game renamed to the EAC exe start_protected_game.exe and even if i manually set its path to that exe it fails until i renamed it back to eldenring.exe which made it work again
