There are two types of "messages" in discord, what you, me send when chatting are considered Legacy/V1 (there's no official name for it).
A bot can send Legacy/V1 or V2 components.

When you quote a message, it could be either, and they both have different properties/fields/etc. That's why the distinction. If I quote a normal (legacy) message, bot sends a legacy message. if I quote a V2 message, bot sends V2 message. You can't mix both.

This means we only have to support it because some other message is using V1.

If this bot uses only V2 it cannot generate its own message with V1 anymore. So the only problem would be that messages from other bots could be using V1.

We're using both variants in the bot, V2 doesn't fully replace V1, for example, the repel logs, that component can't be done using V2, it would look very different since V2 don't support the Author field for example, which imo the log message does look better with having an author in it.
