People were having trouble with the search because they didn't know that it only progressed from the current cursor location.
Then they'd try to scroll around using the terminal scrollbars, not the arrow keys, which caused problems.
Also, people would read the manual pages as suggested, but not know how to get out of the pager, because we haven't introduced less at that juncture.
