Feature Request: implement dial functionality

The plugin as-is cannot be used for dials. Controlling an application's volume through a single dial (up, down, toggle muting on click) would be much preferable to assigning all three actions to different buttons.

This can be done. I don't have dials to showcase how to do it, but if you add all three actions (mute, louder, softer) to a single button, you can then use the Event Assigner inside of each action. For example:

• Softer: Set Key Down to Rotate CCW, set all other events to None
• Louder: Set Key Down to Rotate CW, set all other events to None
• Mute: Set Key Down to Dial Click, set all other events to None

I think those are the right names for the events, but that should let you put all the features on a single button

The issue is that I cannot assign those actions to dials at all; the program prevents me from doing that with an icon & an error message:

Furthermore there's this incomplete actions.dial.name action at the bottom. I can assign that one to dials, but it doesn't have any actions in it & seems completely broken.

If you use the open volume mixer action, a page should open where the dials are already pre-configured. Should this not be the case for you, please try to uninstall the plugin, restart the app and then reinstall the plugin.

I did as you asked, but that did not yield better results. To make it 100% clear what I did:

1. I removed the "Volume Mixer" plugin from the program.
2. I quit StreamController, which I confirmed by looking at my now dark StreamDeck & pressing its buttons without effect.
3. I restarted the program. At this point I recorded everything I did & saw in a short video which should hopefully make clear what I'm seeing and why I'm confused & think that this doesn't actually work for some reason. You can find the video here.

I'm running StreamController 1.5.0-beta.13 from Flathub, BTW.

based on my testing, I believe the way it works is you add the "open" action to a regular button. Which then takes over control of the stream deck, including putting application volumes onto the encoders

I think the request (or at least the way i was hoping it worked) was to be able to assign an appliction's volume to the encoder so it could exist in conjunction with other plugins instead of taking over the whole device

Thanks, @dlprows , with that knowledge I can now see the extension working as you've described, and yes, I do get the individual applications controlled with my dials. This is so unintuitive, and there's no documentation that I can find at all, that it was really not clicking for me out of the box at all.

What I'd prefer is the ability to have specific dials always control specific applications, e.g.:

• first dial always controls the web browser I mainly use for video playback
• second dial always controls my music player, Strawberry
• third dial always controls the application currently having focus (usually a game I'm playing)
• fourth dial always controls overall volume (this is already possible via other plugins)

This is how I had set it up back when I was still using Windows. It's much easier & quicker to grab the correct dial; I didn't even have to look at the deck to do so. With this plugin I have to look at the description, which might just be "playback", which in turn is not very clear. Also the order changes around all the time when multiple streams are running.

But I guess that's not what this plugin is for, unfortunately. I had requested the application-specific volume control over on the main StreamController repo, where the request was closed in favor of this plugin — which kind of does what I want, but not entirely, or not the way I actually want it to.
